Expression Explorers is a none-for-profit initiative, that has just launched in the Suffolk/Essex areas offering bespoke workshops for children age 2-11. We will help children explore their emotions through different styles of dance and musical interpretations. Each session will allow each child to interpret emotions behind the music, learn technical dance steps and freestyle developing their own style and creative voice.
This balance nurtures self-expression through creating a visualisation of music. Will be doing games making principles of music and dance interpretations and interdependencies taught in music conservatoires, accessible and fun for the children. The focus here is on developing a child’s artistic creativity through finding their inner voice to music.
Our Story
After becoming a mother of two boys, Stefka saw something significantly missing the in the dance lessons and workshops her boys went to. There was a lot of technical focus and drilling but lack of musical interpretation, music ear training teaching and above all, self-expression development. Her boys were not on the creative journey; she wanted them to experience.
As Stefka Baxter spent most of her life dancing and has many years training with IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) in a range of dance styles including Ballet, Ballroom & Latin and Freestyle she was well placed to create the right type of creative journey in dance for children.
Backed by both of her parents, whom studied in the top Bulgaria’s music conservatoire for teaching, composing, practical performance and technical mastery, and additionally her dad Krasen Gospodinov is a music lecturer at that very same Academia today.
Together they decided to use both disciplines to create a new music and dance interdependency curriculum geared up for young children, providing a toolkit of self-expression and discovery.
Giving the birth of the not-for-profit community initiative Expression Explorers.
