“Before a child speaks, it sings. Before they write, they paint. As soon as they stand, they dance.
Art is the basis of human expression.”

OUR WORKSHOPS ARE FOR SCHOOLS

Our workshops are the intersection of music and dance offering a creative outlet for children.

Our workshops help children explore emotions through different styles of dance and musical interpretations. Each session will allow each child to interpret emotions behind the music, learn technical dance steps and freestyle. This balance nurtures self expression through creating a visualisation of music.

Our curriculum uses music conservatoire theories in interpreting music and interdependencies with dance, made accessible to young children and delivered in a range of fun games for the children to enjoy and learn whilst playing.

OUR WORKSHOPS ARE FOR CHILDREN 2-11

Inspire Discover and Create

Helping children find their expressional compass

Our aim is to first inspire, ignite the passion of the art of dance and then, teach the tools and techniques, all in line with nurturing the child’s self-expression. The focus of the workshops is on developing a child’s artistic creativity and finding their inner voice.

What would your child experience in our three part workshops:

1)Leaning musicality in dance with different focus points are taught in game format

2)Teaching dance movements though the teacher creating visualisation of the music three dance styles (usually Ballet, Street Dance and one Ballroom or Latin style like waltz, cha-cha-cha, jive, samba, rumba, salsa. Demonstrating three different interpretations of the same piece of music.

3)Pupil Improvisation a key part in a child’s creative journey. To be able to do the freestyles shares the child’s own musical and dance expression. This takes courage and builds confidence. Having the teacher and other pupils copy the leading child’s dance moves supports and re-assures each child’s creative journey, emotional self-discovery and search for their inner voice in their creative journey

OUR STORY

After becoming a mother of two boys, Stefka saw something significantly missing the in the dance lessons and workshops her boys went to. There was a lot of technical focus and drilling but lack of musical interpretation, music ear training teaching and above all, self-expression development. Her boys were not on the creative journey; she wanted them to experience.

As Stefka Baxter spent most of her life dancing and has many years training with IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) in a range of dance styles including Ballet, Ballroom & Latin and Freestyle she was well placed to create the right type of artistic journey in dance for children.

Backed by both of her parents, whom studied in the top Bulgaria’s music conservatoire for teaching, composing, practical performance and technical mastery, and additionally her dad Krasen Gospodinov is a music lecturer at that very same Academia today.

Together they decided to use both disciplines to create a new music and dance interdependency curriculum geared up for young children, providing a toolkit of self-expression and discovery.

Giving the birth of the not-for-profit community initiative Expression Explorers.
